I have devoted the past twelve years to teaching and research at SUNY Oswego. I teach a wide range of courses, specializing in exercise physiology, nutrition, human flourishing, and behavior change.
I am a passionate and dedicated educator on a mission to transform the educational landscape by implementing positive education principles into the classroom. This has lead to the research and development of
THRIVE, a positive education program that utilizing evidence-based positive psychology strategies, growth mindset, strength-based learning, goal setting, resilience exercises, and mindfulness.
In 2012, I earned my Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology and Science Education from Syracuse University. My research focused on metabolic nutrition and physical inactivity, highlighting the critical connection between lifestyle choices and overall health.
I have a B.S. in Exercise Science from SUNY Brockport and a M.S. in Exercise Physiology from Syracuse University.
I am collaborating with Kendall Hunt Publishing to create an interactive, online educational program for adolescents. The program focuses on enhancing student well-being by implementing tools to help improve students' positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, accomplishments, and health to flourish and thrive at school and home.

When I am not teaching, I am usually found reading or writing and journaling in my meditation room. I have recently discovered a love for creative writing. Currently I am writing a memoir on trauma, addiction, and resilience.
I live in Syracuse, New York with my husband of 18+ years, my 15 year old daughter and 3 dogs.
My passion is spending time with my family, ideally on a beach somewhere! I enjoy exercising and have a strong yoga and meditation practice.
